CROP SCOUTING

Hiring a company to monitor your crops is essential. With the help of Cropwise Consulting, LLC you will know exactly what is happening in your fields throughout the entire growing season. Partnering with a local company gives you the advantage of getting specialized services for your local environment. Our 25 years of crop scouting experience has made us experts in the field. Our team has the knowledge of many unique seasons; we have been scouting fields in Missouri since 2004.

Cropwise performs crops monitoring in Northwest Missouri and surrounding areas. Crop monitoring and integrated pest and disease management (IPDM) is an essential part of precision farming. IPDM uses field-specific information and improved decision making to protect crop yield and quality while minimizing the risks associated with pesticide and herbicide use. Through a regular and systematic field-sampling program, scouting provides specific information on pest pressure and crop injury. This information is essential to the appropriate selection and application of pest and disease management procedures. The purpose of scouting is to determine whether a pest is present and if the application of a pest management procedure is justified.

Scouting is also beneficial to determine whether nutrient deficiencies, soil compaction or other disorders are affecting crop health. Using technology such as GPS and personal digital assistants, scouts are able to mark exact references of problem areas and are then able to use those references to apply chemicals without over applying to the entire field, saving money and time.

Our field scouting services are complete with both precision monitoring equipment and our team routinely walking your farm. We believe this hybrid approach helps us relay accurate information quickly and precisely to stay ahead.

Services offered:

  • Season long, in-depth scouting programs with weekly reporting until harvest estimates
  • Critical timing scout – five scouting trips at critical plant growth stages to identify look-outs and to match timing for pesticide application
  • Per trip – troubleshooting

farm electrician

Farms, ranches and other agricultural operations need reliable electrical systems for things to run smoothly, as electricity is needed to run a variety of things on a farm, including storage facilities, irrigation systems, water pumps and farm buildings.

The efficient use of electrical systems can conserve energy and significantly cut down on your operation costs. The Electrical Safety Authority highly recommends that all farms have wiring and electrical equipment checked by a licensed journeyman electrician.

Master electrician on staff with over 25 years of experience in the ag industry. Our certified electricians are here to help you with any of your grain elevator and storage bin electrical system needs, from grain elevator wiring on new or existing systems to grain elevator control wiring services.

We do pre-season checks on your existing grain dryers, and service all brands at your farm or at large grain elevators. With help from our certified electricians, your grain dryer system will be ready to go for harvest. Our electricians offer year-round electrical services to make sure your operation is running at optimal efficiency.

Soil Sampling

Our team of professional agronomists are trained in the latest soil sampling techniques. Consistent soil sampling is the key to having accurate soil test results. Cropwise takes soil samples for clients’ fields and provides accurate data to maximize soil fertility. Let Cropwise take care of soil sampling in your fields so that you can take corrective action to maximize your fertilizer inputs.

plant tissue sampling

As a farmer, it is important to ensure that the crops are getting the nutrients they need so that you can have a bountiful harvest. At Cropwise, we provide plant sampling services to give our clients the information they need about their crop. This information is a powerful tool; understanding how nutrients are being used in the system provides critical insight into fine-tuning your nutrient program. Nutrient availability can be tied to many factors, which we have the experience to identify. Tissue sampling can be a valuable, in-season tool to identify time-specific issues. Issues that may require immediate application or that may be indicators of larger issues that impact decisions for future crops.

Data Collection & Trainings

We also provide third party data collection and agronomy trainings.

Crop Establishment

Cropwise will look at stand counts and establishment, along with weed identification and herbicide recommendations. Assessment and recommendations relating to early season insect problems are made.

Early crop growth

Cropwise will perform a follow-up weed assessment and make recommendations for any insect concerns and other problems. We will take an overall look at planter, equipment and cultural issues along with early plant health and provide advice to keep your crop growing strong.

mid – season

Timing is everything and mid-season scouting is particularly important for insects, diseases, weed escape notes and the need for additional fertilizer. Cropwise scouts identify critical growth stage for optimum fungicide timing and the need for insecticide. Cropwise scouts monitor the environmental conditions & pathogen presence among the various hybrids and varieties unique to the clients’ fields to determine best use practices for fungicide and insecticide. Scouting at this time is critical to determine the management to maximize yield.

Late season

Cropwise scouts use this scouting trip to verify yield potential and early seed set, treatment effectiveness of anything applied prior, inspection for late season insects, diseases and nutrient deficiencies.

pre – harvest

Pre-harvest scouting is used to identify late season ear & stalk issues and can help prioritize fields for harvest and identify possible management tactics to help reduce the incidence for the following year. Late-season scouting is another excellent way to assess the weed management by identifying weed escapes, new weed species, and distribution of weeds within the field. Deficiencies of mobile nutrients such as Nitrogen and Potassium are generally visible at this stage and can be a good barometer of what went right or wrong with the nutrient management plan in the field.
